    Coffee Break Women’s Ministry: On the Blessings of Being Involved in a Community of Women

    For the past year and a half, I have had the privilege of being a co-leader of Coffee Break, our inter-generational women’s ministry at our church. Our group consists of about forty or so ladies and their kids. We meet women in every stage of their lives, but predominantly, our group is composed of younger moms, with a smattering of vital, mature women who provide us with much wisdom and experience. This past Wednesday was our last meeting for the season. I’m going to miss the weekly routine of setting up, leading and meeting women in their ordinary spaces of motherhood, marriage and faith.     Forty Days and Forty Nights: The End of Lent and Living Without TV

    Another Lent season is under our belts, folks. For those of you just jumping in, our family decided to give up TV (including movies, Netflix, etc…) for the forty days of Lent. I am here to say that we have survived. In some ways, living without TV was easier than expected. The benefits were staggering. And in other ways, living without it was extremely difficult and eye-opening. The first week was probably the hardest.     It seems that I’ve just jumped into this whole blogging thing without a somewhat formal introduction, so today I want to take the time to let you guys take a peek into my life, who I am, and what led to the the birth of “Me and My House.” Where to begin with this?     There are some moments where I just want to freeze time so that I can remember every detail. Last night we experienced such a moment. “You’re far happier giving than getting.” Acts 20:35 MSG Beginning this month, Jeff and I have started giving Zoe and allowance of $1 a day for helping out with chores around the house.
